The RX1222sas 12-Bay Expansion Enclosure from Synology is designed to provide storage expansion for the SA3600 and SA3400 NAS enclosures. Up to seven RX1222sas can be used at once, for a total of 84 additional drives, so you'll be able to add volumes when and where they're needed, without interrupting services.
The 12 drive bays of the RX1222sas natively support 3.5" and 2.5" SAS and SATA hard drives and solid-state drives, including Synology's HAT5300, HAS5300, and SAT5200. The drives are hot-swappable and connectivity for the RX1222sas is established using one SAS input and one SAS output. Built with a 2 RU form factor, it operates using dual redundant 500W power supplies and includes two Mini-SAS HD cables, two AC power cords, 52 x 3.5" drive screws, and 52 x 2.5" drive screws.
